My name is Jeff Green, and I am the President of the Chess Club @ ASU. The purpose of the Chess Club @ ASU is to promote the social, intellectual, academic and physical benefits of chess to the university and local communities, and our website is http://asuchess.com. I am writing to inform you of the new presence presence of the Chess Club @ ASU as a tournament organizer. We have started two brand new tournament series: the Sparky Spectacular and ASU Action Chess tournaments. In addition, we hold open club meetings for informal play on Thursday nights from 5-10pm, and we run a Wednesday afternoon recruitment table from 10:30am-2:00pm.

Congratulations to Arizona's Representatives to the Denker and Polgar tournaments.

Congratulations to David Adelberg who won the K-12 section of the 2008 Arizona Scholastic Chess Championship with 5.5 points, to Ben Marmont whose 5 points earned him the right to be Arizona's Representative to the Arnold Denker Tournament of Champions and to Sayaka Foley who was tied with Ben Marmont at 5 points and earned the right to represent Arizona in the Susan Polgar Tournament of Champions for High School girls. Sayaka Foley, however, was also invited to participate in her tournament by Susan Polgar and therefore Arizona may send an additional representative to play in the Polgar tournament. The first alternate for the Polgar tournament is Amanda Mateer. A link to the entire rated crosstable for all sections of the 2008 Arizona Scholastic Chess Championship can be found in the results area of this site.
